Have you ever taken the time to think about average breakfast foods when it comes to the color of the rainbow?

Cereal, eggs, toast, bagels, pancakes, hash browns, oatmeal, english muffins, donuts, croissants…… etc……. They all have one thing in common.

They’re brown, or yellow depending on how you look at it.

& for the most part they’re all Nutrient Void and full of blood sugar spiking, fiber poor, carbohydrates that may satisfy you at first and then leave you craving more food, more sugar and more nutrient void calories within an hour or two if your lucky.

Try something new if you haven’t already, and start your day with something a bit more colorful. Your body will love you for it and you’ll have no problem avoiding those mid morning cravings and poor snack choices.

Go for all colors of the rainbow, choose nutrient rich, fiber rich, naturally grown foods that come packed with minerals and antioxidants straight from the ground with no need to be processed in a lab. It’s a mystery to me that society sees these complicated processed made in a lab and packaged into a box type foods as “convenient” where as food that you can simply pick from a tree and eat… gets labeled as “complicated” and “time consuming”

Why Green?

Because most people never get their daily recommended intake of vegetables throughout the day so this is a great way to get a head start with a handful of raw organic spinach that gets blended down and mixed in with fresh fruit so well that you can’t even taste it… & yet your body will be so happy that you included something so nutritious in your first meal of the day!

What’s the big deal about spinach?

Research shows that Spinach is rich in Vitamin K, Beta-carotene, lutein, zeaxanthin, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, folate, magnesium and Iron.

Some of it’s amazing benefits include anti-inflammatory properties that help protect against Alzheimer’s, arthritis, heart disease and osteoporosis. The Carotenoids such as beta-carotene help guard the eyes against cataracts and macular degeneration, and vitamin K is essential to maintain proper blood clotting and bone health.

Spinach, Mango, Cashew Smoothie inspired by one of my favorite health-foodies DeliciouslyElla

All you need is a high powered blender and a few simple ingredients.


1 large handful of organic baby spinach, 1 banana, 1/2 mango (or a large peach will work as a great substitute), 1/2 cup raw cashews, 2tbsp whole or ground flax seeds, 1 cup almond milk (water or coconut milk), & the juice squeezed from 1/2 a lime (optional)

Blend all ingredients until smooth

… adjust how much liquid you add based on your prefrence and add in a few ice cubes if you’d like to enjoy your smoothie a bit colder.
